What does
Ekklesia look like? It looks like the
COMMONWEALTH OF ISRAEL in action!
God’s people gathering in smaller places,
like homes – where Christ is lifted up through the experiences of the saints
and generously shared among those gathered.
There really isn’t an “order of service” where we do this first, second,
third, etc. and there is no agenda – no one person or group should manipulate,
control, or dominate in time those so assembled.
No one person is commanding anyone to do this
or that. It is where all gifts of the
Spirit are administered by the One Spirit and where all can prophesy, testify,
and share their portion of the Lord—their gift (1 Corinthians 11:17 to the end of 1 Corinthians 14).
Some may teach but it is not a place for “sermonizing”—for “all to
prophesy” means that the “spirit of the prophet is subject to the
prophet”—defer to others.
It is not a
free-for-all but where all things can be done “decently and in order.” Where love for one another is abundantly
manifested—where our Lord Jesus Christ is remembered and where we celebrate our
Oneness as His One Body.
The “unlearned”
or even unbelievers may be in attendance – a place where we “receive one
another as God for Christ’s sake has received us to the glory of God the Father!” . . . and where
those unlearned, unbelieving will fall down and exclaim: “God is among you of a truth!”
